Helena’s Inspiration Series
Over the upcoming series of blog posts I will be delving into some of my current design inspiration to show you more about my design style. In all our projects there is a continuity of design principles; our projects are contemporary with sophisticated timeless elegance, using luxury materials and attention to detail throughout.
First up is kitchen design, because its one of the most important spaces in the home and getting it right is crucial. A kitchen wants to be warm and inviting, but it can also be a great place to make a statement. On the Helena Smith Interiors Pinterest kitchen inspiration board you will see many of the kitchens that are currently inspiring our own designs.
Inspiring Kitchen Designs
There are three inspirational kitchens in particular that I wanted to share here. As with our own designs, the theme running through these kitchens is simplicity, brought to life with stunning materials, in this case bold marbles and warm woods. Both contemporary frameless units or more traditional shaker units can be appropriate for our projects depending on the style of the property, the key is to detail them so they look effortlessly stylish, whatever the style.
A Statement Kitchen
The first is this beautiful kitchen render imagined by Shexia Space Design, is stunning! The bold marble architrave frames the space with the monolithic marble kitchen island drawing all the focus into the center of the room. The simple units provide the perfect functional background to the kitchen so the space doesn’t become overwhelming.

Contemporary Kitchen Design
Next up is this lovely warm kitchen by Shauna Walton Design. The oak units create a functional minimalist look, while the marble island counter, worktop and splashback elevate the scheme and add the luxury feel. The undertones of pink in the chalk rendered walls adds warmth and the open marble shelf adds the opportunity to display accessories and personalise the space.

Traditional Kitchen Design
Finally, I love this traditional kitchen which has been reimagined with a contemporary update. The neutral palette is all designed to make the most of the view of the garden beyond. Also by using plants in they styling that connection is emphasised. The darker wood of the island makes the island stand out and by using a different darker shade than the floor tone. It feels like a different material and doesn’t become too much of the same. The in-frame units and mix of brass handles gives it that contemporary twist.
